Subtitle: Mostly just to remind y’all I’m alive.

Yah, I haven’t posted in almost three weeks now, but life gets pretty busy around the holidays. And work sucked pretty hard over the past few weeks. There is nothing fun about running a homeless shelter over the holidays.

Anyway, I don’t have much to say, so I’m just going to post a link to a new Diet Coke and Mentos Video from the guys at EepyBird. It’s amazing what you can accomplish with 251 Two Liter bottles of coke, 1506 Mentos mints, and way, WAY too much spare time. (And yes, to anyone who’s paying attention, I did just give EepyBird some SEO Mojo.)

Oh, and I’m also going to have a laugh at anyone who’s still using Internet Exploder. Brian Krebs, computer security columnist and blogger for the Washington Post did some basic math, and added up all the days last year that IE was Open to Publicly Known Security Holes. The number wasn’t a good one. Apparently, IE was vulnerable for 284 days last year. Not only that, but it was vulnerable, unpatchable, and being actively exploited by criminals stealing financial and personal data for 98 days.

That’s right. If you were using IE last year, you were holding out a big “Hose Me Please!” sign 75% of the time, and stood a decent chance of actually getting hosed about 26% of the time. Sucks to be you.

Firefox was vulnerable for a total of 9 days, or about 2.5% of the time. And no one was actively exploiting during that period. Not to rub it in or anything.

One Response to “A few random thoughts…”

Hope your holidays were happy – at least when you weren’t at work! And yup, sucks to be so dumb as to use IE in this day and age….

Something to say?
